concept wordpress
WordPress is a content management system aimed at creating blogs (websites updated regularly). Developed in PHP and MySQL under the GPL, is a founder Matt Mullenweg. WordPress was created from b2/cafelog disappeared and has become close to Movable Type CMS in the most popular of the blogosphere. The causes of its growth are enormous, including its license, its ease of use and features such as content manager.
Another reason to consider on its success and expansion, is the huge community of developers and designers, who are responsible for general development or create plugins and themes for the community (which amounted to 2524 and 1320 respectively in July 2008)
names and versions
The name WordPress was suggested by Christine Selleck, a friend of lead developer Matt Mullenweg. WordPress is the official successor of b2/cafelog.
The released version of Wordpress is the code name jazz musicians such as Mingus. Version 1.5, which was launched in mid-February 2005 is the code name "Strayhorn" (Billy Strayhorn) and offered a wide range of new features such as the use of static pages.
The company
Automattic, the company behind WordPress, has also a blog hosting service based on their free software called WordPress.com.
This allows you to create and manage pages out of order "normal" of the weblog and the first step to transform a basic software management blogs to a full content management system.
Another feature is the creation of templates ( "themes") to enable the user to activate or deactivate one or the other as they wish for their sites. WordPress has also been equipped "in house" with a new default template (code named Kubrick called "Default") in addition to the traditional and original Classic, easy and valid to W3C standards.
Main Features
WordPress was born out of desire to build a personal publishing system, elegant and with good architecture ( "Code is poetry"). Based on PHP, MySQL and licensed under GPL, Wordpress puts special emphasis on aesthetics, web standards, and usabilidad.3
In principle, it is configured to use a weblog or blog site or facility, but it is also possible, without hacks or added, to have several blogs, several in fact-with a single or multiple base datos.4
Wp-config file 2.5.1:
/ / You can have multiple installations in one database if you give each a unique prefix
$ table_prefix = 'wp_' / / Only numbers, letters, and underscores please!
In addition, there are similar versions, parallel or "hacked" for Wordpress that allow this functionality, one of the best known and most widely supported is Wordpress MU:
Since Wordpress does not allow this functionality, there is a customized version of the same and similar developers called WordPress MU (μ), which allows installation of multiple blogs.
Structure
Wordpress, in principle, is a web publishing system based on tickets ordered by date, among many other possibilities besides pages.
The structure and design of the visual system depends on the site templates (themes).
The philosophy of Wordpress clear choice for the elegance, simplicity and the recommendations of the W3C but the theme is always used. "Classic", for example, is a theme that comes "standard" and that is as valid (X) HTML Transitional and CSS.
Separate content and layout in XHTML and CSS, though, as said, depends on the "theme" being used. However, the code that tries to generate the entries ( "posts") commitment to forcing this feature if you choose well-marked correctly.
Management and implementation is the responsibility of the management system with plugins and widgets that use the themes.

Themes
The "Themes" (themes or templates) Wordpress design templates are used to establish the appearance and structure of your blog.
There is a great community official, both professional and amateur, in the design of these templates that are often listed in the Wordpress site after they have been officially checked and approved-see list of external links.
While the philosophy of a strong bet for Wordpress valid according to the guidelines of the W3C, the possibilities of this system, both in terms of design, structure or management, and flexibility of the system Themes and Widgets in particular are enormous and virtually allow from a simple blog to a CMS personalizado.6 7
Widgets
Wordpress has a system of Widgets for your templates (Themes) from version 2.2 which offers many opportunities and flexibility for the design and structure of their blogs.
Plugins
There are a huge number of plugins that enhance the use of Wordpress beyond a simple blog and make it a truly flexible and virtually general purpose. Wordpress plugins were added in version 1.6.8

2.x branch:
2.9.
2.8. Version 2.8 includes features aimed at advanced users, the new code editor CodePress that, unlike the previous editor, highlight the code depending on the language being used. Another new feature to be included is the installation of themes through the web, similar to the installation of plugins included in the Web version 2.7
2720. This release includes, above all, a new and long-awaited graphical interface (1.0) with, also new, AJAX improvements, correcting some flaws in the current and especially the change of both location and in relation to usability the main menu at the top left of the screen. The new menu provides access to any section regardless of the depth of the sub-sections through the implementation of AJAX to make it extensible.
In addition, another highly anticipated feature is the implementation of the system to automatically upgrade the system in general and is based, as in the past has been done in the plugin already independent.
Just implement the system on HTTP cookies alone, the addition of attachments without the need to save as inputs, to file browser plugins, online edition (not from the board), the phpdoc documentation is available and includes features to "drag and drop" items on the Board, among others.
As usual will be corrected many other bugs related mainly to the interface and functionality with respect to browsers, locations, etc, and the system code and more validated.
Branch 2.0.x (Support Officer):
2.0.12 This version includes security fixes and aesthetics for the 2.0 branch.
Support Branch 2.0
Since the release of Wordpress 2.1, it started to use version 4.1 of MySQL while using Wordpress 2.0 MySQL 3. With new version 2.x, the team examined the Wordpress for "hosting" still in force and concluded that many of these services do not support MySQL 4. Thus it was decided to continue to support Wordpress 2.0 (security updates) until 2010, where it is expected that all hosting services start to offer MySQL 4 and 5.
Then there is the obsolescence of PHP4 2008 which causes the new versions of Wordpress are constructed based on version 5, while maintaining compatibility and support-reverse of the 2.0-branch in the same circumstances with MySQL.
Vulnerabilities
BlogSecurity currently maintains a list of vulnerabilities discovered in WordPress.
In January 2007, recognized many blogs related to search optimization (Search Engine Optimization, SEO), blogs and many smaller commercial importance using AdSense and were attacked with an exploit (piece of code that exploits a vulnerability )
A vulnerability in one of the WordPress project web servers allowed an attacker to insert code with vulnerabilities in the form of a back door (back door) for some downloads of WordPress 2.1.1. The release of version 2.1.2 over the incident, sent a warning in time advised all users to upgrade inmediatamente.
In May 2007, a survey revealed that 98% of blogs based on WordPress are vulnerable to ataques.
In an interview in June 2007, Stefan Esser, fundandor of the PHP Security Response Team, has criticized the safety record of WordPress, citing problems with the architecture of the application being made unnecessarily difficult to write code that is secure against SQL Injection Vulnerabilities and other problemas.
Multiblogging
WordPress supports one blog per installation, though you can use multiple copies in different directories when using tables in separate databases.
WordPress MU (also known as WordPress or WPMU MU) is a derivation of WordPress created to allow the existence of several blogs in one installation. WordPress MU makes it possible for everyone with a website you want to host your own blogging community, to control and moderate all the blogs from a single management environment. WordPress MU adds eight new data tables for each blog about WordPress. It is used in the hosting service free WordPress.com blogs, and other organizations such as Le Monde, Harvard University and Edublogs.
Lyceum is another enterprise version of WordPress. Unlike WordPress MU, Lyceum stores all information in a set of database tables. Some communities are highlighted using Lyceum TeachFor.Us26 (Teach for America teacher's blogs), BodyBlogs and Hopkins Blogs.
In 2008 Andy joined Automattic Peating to continue their work in BuddyPress, WPMU an extension that will add community features to WordPress.
Developers
WordPress development is led by Ryan Boren and Matt Mullenweg. Mullenweg and Mike Little were the founders of the project.
WordPress developers are:
Dougal Campbell
Mark Jaquith
Donncha Ó Caoimh
Andy Skelton
Michel Valdrighi
Peter Westwood
While much of the project has been developed by the community around WordPress is still associated with Automattic, the company where some of the major contributors are empleados.28 WordPress
WordPress is also in part developed by its community, including the testers, a group of people who voluntarily spend time and effort to test each release. They have access to versions in development (known as nightly builds), Beta versions and versions candidates (Release Candidate). Upgrading to these versions, they can find errors and report them to a particular mailing list. or the bug tracking system based on Trac.
Visual themes sponsored
On July 20, 2007, following a discussion in the forum of ideas and WordPress publishing Mark Ghosh in his blog Weblogs Tools Collection, Matt Mullenweng announced that the official directory of themes in WordPress http://themes.wordpress . net does not stay vsuales themes containing sponsored links. Although this move was criticized by designers and users of sponsored themes, was applauded by some WordPress users who consider such themes as spam. The directory of WordPress themes stopped accepting any new item, including those without sponsored links, long after the announcement was realizado29. Ironically, the closure of the site and its consequent lack of updated topics that generated a number of people download themes of unofficial sites that inserted their own spam links into all themes downloaded from them sitios.30 31
On July 18, 2008, a new directory was opened in http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/ topics. It was designed with the same guidelines that the directory plugins (extensions) 32. Any item that is hung in principle can be vetoed by an automated program and then by a human.
WordPress for iPhone [edit]
On July 11, 2008, with the launch of iTunes App Store by Apple Inc., WordPress also launched its first native application for iPhone and iPod Touch. The application has all the features WordPress has the administration panel of WordPress. This application works for all blogs on WordPress.com and WordPress 2.5.1 own accommodation or superior.33
